Macy’s City Christmas Shop New York City

Macy’s Christmas shop New York was the biggest positive surprise from all the stores visited during the Christmas Road Trip in 2012.

I admit I had pretty low expectations. A department store Christmas ‘shop’ – how good could it be? I thought it would be nice, but I didn’t expect ‘spectacular’. It was the only store I visited that had me wishing I had more time to look and more room in my suitcase to bring decorations home.

There were a number of different themed areas and the fine detail that went into making each of those spaces inviting was amazing. Of course the fact I was in the flagship store would explain the stunning size of all the displays. The Christmas trees were large and extravagent and perfectly themed to each range of ornaments. I even loved the patterning they created out of their hanging ornaments on their ornament walls (you can see examples of this in the images below).

Another great find was the gorgeous range of New York ornaments. An ornament is one of my favourite souvenirs when I travel. They had a large collection of these pieces to choose from.

Finally, as well as beautiful hanging ornaments they had a substantial range of collectibles including a very large collection of Jim Shore pieces.

I’m simply going to let the pictures speak for themselves, but if you have a chance to visit a Macy’s Christmas shop New York – do it! You won’t be disappointed.
