Next stop is a flight to Chicago and an hour drive out west to visit Lisa Frost. Lisa is an artist and designer of Christmas and other special occasion items. I have seen a little of Lisa’s work in Australia and her style is right up my alley – whimsical, bright and loads of fun.
Upon arriving we were greeted by a gorgeous Halloween decorated entrance (with Lisa’s banner of course) and such a sweet sign welcoming us personally. So thoughtful and unexpected.
Lisa’s story is great. An art teacher by training, she has been painting and creating all her life. When her two daughters were 6 weeks and 2 years old (about 12 years ago) Lisa decided to create a Christmas theme range of decorative pieces and invited family and friends to a special Frost and Friends viewing. The art was an instant hit and sold out, and a business was born. Working around the clock Lisa produced hand made pieces for many years before partnering with Silvestri by Demdaco in 2009 where her pieces are now available for admirers around the world.
This initial viewing back in 2000 was also the first of her now annual “Frost and Friends” preview week ends run in November each year. At these special events you find her beautiful hand made pieces as well as the Silvestri designs. Lisa has also invited 30 other artists to participate this year, and it is becoming one of the premier special events for the Rockford/Chicago area. Tickets for two special events at this year’s “Frost and Friends” week end went on sale this morning and were sold out in 8 minutes!
Next year I can’t wait to offer you a fabulous range of her fun decorations. Thank you Lisa and Kevin for welcoming us into your home. Andrew and I had such a lovely time and are so glad we were able to meet you both.
